BETTER FINANCE fully supports the Youth for Climate March and stronger public policy for the
environment. We believe that it is primarily through public policies addressing negative environmental
“externalities” that we have a better chance to save this planet. In this context, investors of course
have to do their part, but this cannot replace effective government policies towards making
environmentally friendly investment opportunities beneficial and ensuring that “brown” economic
activities pay the price for the environmental damages they generate. We also need to ensure that the
financial industry does not “greenwash” underperforming and fee-laden investment products for EU
citizens as pensions savers.
